Serbian police have searched premises in the centre of the country as the hunt for war crimes suspect Ratkoc Mladic intensifies. A window manufacturing business was the target of the police operation in Valjevo. It is suspected of being part of the former Bosnian Serb military leader’s support network.
Last week Serbian authorities said the search for Mladic had been stepped up, but there has been little comment on today’s developments. A senior police official was quoted by local media as saying they were checking reports that Mladic had been seen at the factory.
Mladic has been indicted on genocide charges over the siege of Sarajevo and the Srebrenica massacre of about 8,000 Muslims. His former political leader, Radovan Karadzic, who was captured in ?????, is facing similar charges at the Hague.
