The life of one of Italy’s best known and most controversial politicians is explored in the movie ‘Il Divo’ – a film which won the Jury Prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Giulio Andreotti’s story is peppered with ambiguity, intrigue and the Mafia. During his 50 years in power, he was a minister 21 times, Prime Minister seven times, and has been a life-time Senator since 1991. The director, Paolo Sorrentino, had been itching to make a film about Andreotti’s life.
