Turkey’s military says 15 soldiers have been killed during fighting with PKK rebels in south-east Turkey.

Turkish army officials say the clashes with the Kurdish separatist rebels happened on Friday evening.

Turkish media reports say at least 23 rebels died during the engagement in the Semdinli region which borders Iraq and Iran.

Turkey blames the PKK, or the Kurdistan Workers’ Party for a series of bomb attacks on its cities, and has recently targeted rebel bases with air strikes.
