The stage is set for a TV showdown between the two vice-presidential candidates in the US. The duel between experienced Democrat Senator Joe Biden and the rookie Republican Sarah Palin has been eagerly awaited. But will the High Noon prove to be a low ebb for either one?

Much has been made of the gulf in age and experience between the two contenders, and each has their strengths and their weaknesses. Americans place great stock in the calibre of presidential running mates and tonight’s outcome could have a big impact on the campaign.
