At least 17 people have been killed and more than 60 have been injured in an explosion at a factory in Turkey’s second largest city of Istanbul. It’s reported the five-storey building housed a clothing workshop, a paint warehouse, and an illegal fireworks factory.

Relatives of the factory workers rushed to the scene anxious for news of their loved ones.
The explosion, which brought down at least two storeys, blew out all the windows in neighbouring buildings.

It is unclear what caused the blast, which is believed to have started in the furnace room, but the governor of Istanbul has ruled out the possibility of a terrorist attack.

He also said all the victims had been rescued from beneath the rubble.
