South Korea’s Yeosu has beaten cities in Morocco and Poland to host Expo 2012, which draws millions of visitors from around the world. The theme for the three-month exhibition — also known as a World Fair — is to be environmental, entitled The Living Ocean and Coast.
South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-Soo said: “We are fully aware that to be the host is not only an honour but a very serious commitment. Only in cooperation with you and your countries as partners can we ensure that Expo 2012 is remembered as one of the most successful expos in history.”
International expos have been held since the Great Exhibition of London in 1851.
