Airports across Italy are bracing themselves for disruption today. The country’s flag-carrier Alitalia has cancelled almost 400 national and international flights due to strikes by cabin crew and air traffic controllers. Air traffic controllers belonging to the Sacta union are locked in a dispute with managers over salary increases.
It could not have come at a worse time for some. Thousands of football fans are expecting to jet out to Athens today for the Champions League final between Liverpool and AC Milan.
