Anna Nicole Smith is set to be buried in the Bahamas, after her mother Virgie Arthur lost a battle to have her buried in her Texas homeland. The dispute was complicated by three fathers claiming paternity over the former playboy model’s surviving daughter Dannielynn. The judge, a former bronx taxi driver, said the future now lay with the child.

The drama has captivated world media not least because Anna Nicole had herself been involved in a ten year court battle to inherit the fortune of an 89- year-old oil rich billionaire who died a year after she married him.

Anna Nicole died two weeks ago after a suspected drugs overdose. The 39-year-old had settled in the Bahamas with partner lawyer Howard K Stern, and those close to her argued that is where she would have wanted be buried there because her son too is buried there. But her estranged mother is set to appeal against the decision.
