At least two Britons are feared to have been killed by heavy storms that have hit Greece. The victims are reported to have died when they ignored orders to stay away from a beach on the holiday island of Rhodes. It is one of many places that have been declared a state of emergency after raging floods destroyed homes, property and caused widespread chaos.
Crete has been one of the worst hit islands. Power lines have been brought down and dozens of people have been trapped in their homes by water or landslides. The storms that have swept through the country have also brought a cold spell, with temperatures plummeting by as much as ten degrees Celsius in many cities. The heavy rains are expected to continue for the next few days.
