After speaking by phone with British Prime Minister Tony Blair about the alleged terror plot against flights between the US and Britain, President George Bush praised the security efforts that led to it being foiled. Pointing the blame at al-Qaeda-type terrorism, Bush warned that this was “a stark reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists, who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation.” Bush said while the United States was safer than before the September the 11th attacks, it was still not completely safe and it would be a mistake to believe there was no threat to the United States.
