Officials estimated that 125,000 fans stayed up late. Some started smashing shop fronts, setting fire to rubbish and destroying phone booths. More than 100 people were reported hurt. Vandalism and violence also broke out in Granada in the south and Coruna in the northwest. Supporters thrilled with the 2-1 victory for the Spanish club took it as a promising omen for next month’s World Cup.
