Spain remembers the victims of the Madrid bombings today on the second anniversary of the attacks. A memorial concert attended by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia last night had added poignancy as it was also dedicated to the victims of the London bombings in July.
The royal couple met relatives of some of the 192 people who died in the blasts in the Spanish capital. The attacks in the two cities had obvious similarities. They targeted public transport systems and were carried out by Islamic extremists. The guests at last night’s concert observed a minute’s silence for all the victims.
