Palestinian militants in Gaza have fired a rocket into Israel, according to the country’s rescue services. No casualties or damage is reported. It is the first launching of a makeshift rocket since last night’s Israeli air strike which killed eight Palestinians, including four militants.

The attack targeted the Jabaliya refugee camp. In the aftermath of the Gaza air strike, a local Islamic Jihad leader said his group would hit back. It was the Jewish state’s response to a suicide bombing that killed five Israelis and injured 30 others in the town of Hadera earlier in the week. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has vowed to not let up Israel’s hunt for Palestinian militants.
