Israeli settlers killed in drive-by shooting
Text size Aa Aa

At least three Israelis have been killed and another five injured in an attack on a Jewish settlement in the West Bank.

The radical Palestinian group Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility for the drive-by shooting against a group of hitchhickers outside the Gush Etzion bloc. Minutes later, another Israeli was seriously injured in a similar incident at a road junction outside Eli settlement in the central West Bank. Palestinian militant groups entered a tacit ceasefire earlier this year, but violence has not entirely stopped. The shootings come after the arrest of hundreds of suspected militants in raids by the Israeli army around the West Bank in the past few weeks.
