As France comes to terms with another fire which claimed multiple lives at a Paris apartment block, it is reported that three teenage girls have admitted starting the blaze.

Sixteen people were killed and a number of others injured. Four girls are being questioned by police – it is thought they are aged between 16 and 18. The fire, in a southern suburb of the capital, broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning. A police source said the girls indicated they had not intended to kill anyone and that the fire had been started as part of a game. A series of fires has claimed dozens of lives in Paris in recent months. Unlike the others, this latest was not in a rundown building housing immigrants. The previous blazes are not thought to have been started deliberately.
