Edinburgh is the whole reason behind the global Live 8 spectacular and the naming of the event, as it is where the leaders of the G8 group of richest nations meet this week.

The Scottish capital is filling with protestors for the summit. Thousands appear to be heeding Bob Geldof’s call to head north and make their presence felt. It is a potential security nightmare and Britain’s police forces have sent extra manpower to Edinburgh to try to make sure everything runs smoothly. One more concert is due there on Wednesday, when the summit opens.
