One of the accused in Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison abuse scandal, Lynndie England, is expected to plead guilty today to seven of the nine charges against her. The 22-year-old US army reservist will appear before a military court in Texas, and faces up to 11 years in jail. She was photographed humiliating naked Iraqis, appearing in several images that embarrassed Washington and provoked outrage around the world.

England’s boyfriend at the time, Charles Graner, was sentenced in January to ten years in jail for his role in the scandal. The Pentagon has cleared all but one of the prison’s top five commanders of any wrongdoing, despite claims the abuse was encouraged by the hierarchy.
