A diplomatic incident between the president of the European Parliament Josep Borrell and Poland seems to have blown over.
Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza said that in an interview Borrell had voiced a critical opinion of Warsaw’s actions at the height of the political crisis in Ukraine.
The paper reported him as saying Poland’s approach had differed from that of the EU and that Warsaw had allowed itself to be influenced by the United States.
Swift reactions to the article followed swiftly in the polish parliament and from president Aleksander Kwasnievski.
Several phone calls later, the incident was attributed to an error in translation and closed.
