What have a well-known New York bowling alley and Yasser Arafat in common? Apparently he put his money in the entertainment centre. According to American news reports the Palestinian leader stashed away hundreds of millions of euros in various ventures abroad including “Bowlmor Lanes” in Manhattan.

There is no evidence that Arafat was a fan of the sport but many other public figures tried to a get strike at the centre including a former New York mayor. Some bowling fans said they are not coming back after hearing where the money came from.

The management of the bowling alley said they will return the Palestinian cash immediately. Yasser Arafat who died last month was holed up for the last years of his life in his cramped headquarters in the West Bank. It now seems clear he was anything but poor. He had a sizeable fortune and investigators are wondering where the money came from.
