The Osama bin Laden video tape is being interpreted as an attempt to influence Tuesday’s US presidential vote.

This is what George W. Bush had to say: “Let me make this very clear. Americans will not be intimidated or influenced by an enemy of our country. I’m sure Sen. Kerry agrees with this. I also want to say to the American people that we are at war with these terrorists and I’m confident that we will prevail.” There are reports that US diplomats in Qatar, where Al Jazeera is based, tried to stop the channel from airing the video. The White House has said it has no plans to raise the national security threat for now.
