The Brussels symbol of European prowess is having the shine put back on today, with the inauguration of the newly renovated European Commission headquarters, the building called Berlaymont.
Sucking out the asbestos took more than ten years. Outgoing Commission President Romano Prodi is cutting the ribbon. The European Executive of 25 members will sit here, together. While the inards of Berlaymont were being replaced, those of the EU 15 camped in various locations around the Belgian capital.
