Venetians and environmentalists have staged an angry protest over the presence of huge cruise ships.
They are upset large vessels are allowed to enter the Venetian Lagoon, saying it causes damage to the fragile Italian city.
Cruise ship owners and the local authorities say the passage of such ships provides the area with thousands of jobs.
