Bronislaw Komorowski
Acting President of Poland
The Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Bronislaw Komorowski, became the Acting President of Poland after the tragic death of Lech Kaczynski, killed in a plane crash on April 10, 2010.
A member of the government's Civic Platform party, Bronislaw Komorowski is their candidate for the next presidential election, which constitutionally must be held by mid-june, 2010. Komorowski is required to call a presidential election within 14 days of assuming the position.
He was elected Speaker of the Lower House in 2007. Between 2000 and 2001, he served as Minister of National Defence in the government of Jerzy Buzek.
