Last spring, President Obama promised to close Guantanamo Bay within a year. But the deadline was two months ago and the prison camp is still open.
Getting to Guantanamo Bay is disorientating. We arrived in Cuba by plane, and then took a boat to Guantanamo. Even as officially-cleared journalists, we were accompanied by military personnel at all times. We were not allowed to talk to the prisoners, or the Red Cross workers who do talk to them. At the end of each day, our images were screened frame by frame. Lots of them were erased. We couldn't film prisoners’ faces, or control towers or take wide shots of the bay...
