France's côte d'azur becomes the focal point for the world of glamour and fashion in May, where business rubs shoulders with the stars of the silver screen. This is Cannes and this year the film festival celebrates its 65th anniversary.

Marilyn Monroe, who sang arguably one of the most famous renditions of 'Happy Birthday', adorns the official poster for the gathering.

This year's official selection jury is chaired by the Italian director Nanni Moretti, winner of the Palme d'Or in 2001 for 'The Son's Room'. He will be joined by eight other personalities who will judge the films in competition and decide on where the seven awards will go.
