My Second Home, the world’s largest lodge and play area for canines, recently opened in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The indoor/outdoor space is the size of 18 tennis courts and boasts two pools, 200 luxury rooms (complete with bright colours and animal-inspired themes), a day care and dog park, a grooming parlour and even a first-aid team. Keeping animal temperament in mind, only dogs of the same size and nature are allowed to play together at the same time.

Said Vaughn Pillay of My Second Home, “We (felt we) needed to go a step further and create a world-class environment that focuses on providing our best friends’ most essential needs – space to have fun, learn and interact safely.”

My Second Home hopes to help the problem local pet owners face in raising dogs in apartments and small quarters. Many animals in the Emirates are abandoned when their owners leave for vacation. According to Animal Action UAE, a record number of pets each summer face this fate.
