Arab Spring activists receive Sakharov Prize

EU Parliament President Jerzy Buzek awarded the institution’s annual Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought to five ‘Arab Spring’ activists for their contribution to the historic changes in the Arab world in the plenary chamber of the parliament in Strasbourg, France. Two of the five prize winners attended the ceremony: Ms Asmaa Mahfouz, who was a founder of the youth movement in Egypt and Mr Ahmed El Senussi from Libya.
