Two French journalists from France 3 who were held hostage by the Taliban in Afghanistan for a year and a half were freed after months of negotiations. Herve Ghesquiere, 47 and Stephane Taponier, 46, were abducted in December 2009, about 60 kilometres north-east of Kabul.
