Deadly clashes in Peru

In Peru violent demonstrations have claimed the lives of at least five people. It happened in the south of the country as about 1,000 protesters broke down the perimeter fence at the airport at Juliaca. Their anger is over a mining contract given to a Canadian corporation which raised concerns about contamination of the local drinking water. The government has since cancelled the project.
