Tension rises at the Turkish border

Troops backed by tanks and snipers entered a village along the Turkish border as the regime expanded its crackdown on a pro-democracy movement that has posed the gravest challenge to President Bashar Assad’s rule. Nearly 100 Syrians who were living in makeshift tents on the Syrian side of the border had to flee into Turkey.
