Walking in step but moving in opposite directions. Such was the cacaphony of protest that Boris Johnson's team decided against holding a joint news conference after talks with the Luxembourg prime minister.

In Luxembourg where British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been facing criticism from protesters and his counterpart Xavier Bettel.

After lunch with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker , the British Prime Minister held Brexit talks with Mr Bettel -- then skipped out of a press conference they were both supposed to attend.

As our political editor Darren McCaffrey reports neither the public or the host were happy about Mr. Johnson's absence.
