(Relaxnews) - Land Rover has released a ‘sneak peek' video to get fans excited ahead of the official launch on March 26.

The video shows the car arriving in the US in a cargo container and then being driven, with purpose, past a number of New York landmarks. However, at no point during the 35-second clip is anything other than a headlight, wheel or instrument panel dial revealed.

On March 26 -- the eve of the New York Motorshow -- in a live broadcast, the Range Rover Sport will break cover and drive through the streets of New York. Land Rover has hired a Hollywood studio for the event to underline the importance of the model, particularly in the US and is inviting fans and potential customers alike to register their interest at www.newrangeroversport.com ahead of the drive so that they can watch the launch live online.

Just as Rolls-Royce tried to stir up publicity by releasing tiny little bits of information about its latest vehicle -- the Wraith -- in the runup to this year's Geneva Motorshow (which ended this weekend), Land Rover is clearly hoping to create a similar buzz with the Range Rover Sport. All it will confirm for now is that it will be faster and more agile than the model it replaces and that this on-road performance will not negatively impact on its off-road abilities. The company also promises that the drive through New York could well break the speed limit and that the car's driver for this very public reveal is a "very special and very British Land Rover ambassador."
