Omar Sy, international actor and French superstar turned 40 this year. Mentioning this milestone, he tweeted to its 3 million followers.

In an exclusive interview, the popular French actor told Living it all about his secret for eternal youth (we bet his contagious laugh is one them) and his Californian lifestyle in The City of Angels where he moved a few years ago.

What do you do to look so good and young at 40?

"It’s such a well-kept secret that even I don’t have a clue! I don’t use any products nor a specific routine, just very good genes I guess. Mostly, I try to have a healthy diet. I eat a very generous breakfast in the morning and as lightly as possible in the evening."

You always seem so happy. Tell us more about your lifestyle...

"I don’t live in the city. With my wife and children, we live in a house an hour away from central Los Angeles, in the valley. The scenery is very green. Very classic Californian palm trees and a breathtaking panorama overlooking the mountains. I reckon I have a spiritual bond with nature, it’s a place where I can find peace of mind."

What are your favourite weekend activities?

"I have to admit that I have a soft spot for food markets. The Farmer’s Market, which is a true landmark in LA, sells all kinds of specialities and products. It’s the ideal crowd-pleaser for a family stroll. You can each pick a proper dish at any food stall and sit all together. Grand Central downtown is great too, it’s a huge food court with different corners, from Italian to Mexican and Chinese food. Undefeated.

"We’re so lucky here to have national parks, beach and desert close by. I do have a preference for the desert and the cliffs by the Pacific Ocean, the view there is amazing."

And how's life in LA?

"There are so many things to do and places to see here in L.A. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Getty or the Broad, and their architecture is fabulous! The range of exhibitions is quite impressive and the galleries host great installations. So many cultural events are going on here, there’s always something to do: either a concert at the LA Phil, or a basketball game at the Staples Center, or just a night at the Hollywood Chinese theatre where I attend movie premieres! I try to make the most of what this city has to offer culturally whenever I find the time."

Will you be 18 years old forever?

I hope so. But they say time flies…
