Jordan hosts first Arab opera festival
ADVERTISEMENTAmman in Jordan opened the first opera festival in the Arab world with Giuseppe Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’. The opera singers were accompanied by the Sichuan Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring musicians from La Scala and local musicians, as well as the Batumi Opera House Choir with Italian conductor Lorenzo Tazzieri, stage director Luigi Orfeo and Zeina Barhoum a Jordanian soprano who played Violetta.

She hopes the performance will inspire the nation:“Hopefully this will be the inspiration to build an opera house in Jordan in the future. And this is the idea behind the festival so we can nurture the idea of an opera culture in Jordan.“The audience was blown away by the opera and the spectacular setting of Amman’s
Roman theatre:“This is new, and this is the first time I have seen such art. I had a great time and I enjoyed the show.”
