Militants released as part of Lebanese-Syrian exchange agreement

Buses carrying Syrian militants and refugees left a Lebonese border area bound for a rebel held part of Syria on Wednesday.

A deal made between Hezbollah and Nusra Font means 7,000 Syrians including 1,000 militants are to leave Lebanon’s Arsal region and the surrounding border area and head for Syria’s Idilib province.

Supporters of Lebanon’s Hezbollah group gathered in the village of Al-Labweh on Wednesday to celebrate the release of three fighters that had been freed by a Syrian affiliate linked to Al-Qaeda.

Three Al-Qaeda fighters were also released as part of the deal.
