Infantino said the sport’s governing body had received “nothing but positive feedback” from trials so far.

VAR was used for the first time at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December, and it was brought in for decisions in Spain’s win over France last month.

In Russia it will only review incidents relating to goals, red cards, mistaken identities and penalties.

It is thought competitions around the world will begin to adopt the technology in the coming months and years.
