As the year nears its end, here is some of the outstanding work of photojournalists in Ukraine throughout 2022.

Throughout 2022, the war in Ukraine unfolded in front of our eyes:  the first-hand testimonies of these events have been shaking the world daily and will take generations to comprehend.

Evacuations from Kyiv suburbs, the shelling of Mariupol maternity hospital, exhumations in Bucha and Izium, Kremenchuk shopping mall and Kramatorsk railway station attacks, blackouts across the country due to the critical infrastructure damaged by the Russian strikes... 

These images, in their own way, have changed the course of the war, crushing the Kremlin’s claims of not intentionally causing harm to civilians.

These photographs gave a better understanding of the situation on the ground and had an impact on the public and the decision-makers in the West. 

They helped to strengthen the world’s support of Ukraine. 

They passed along the atmosphere of exceptional courage and unity many Ukrainians demonstrated in the face of the imminent danger as well as loss, grief and trauma they faced, inspiring millions around the world and their governments to help Ukraine.
