Snow and ice are expected to disrupt travel across the UK this week, with yellow weather warnings issued by the Met Office.

The UK Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice in areas across the UK this week, with transport links expected to be affected.

The warnings are in place on Tuesday and Wednesday and cover England, Wales, south and west Scotland, where rain is expected to turn into snow, creating icy conditions.

Roads and railways are likely to be affected, while people should also watch out for ice on untreated pavements and cycle paths, the Met Office warned.

Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are also expected, it said.

The freezing temperatures come after hundreds of homes in Wales lost power over the weekend amid strong winds.
