MADRID (Reuters) - Barcelona have swooped to sign Brazilian forward Malcom on a five-year deal from Girondins Bordeaux for an initial 41 million euros (36.45 million pounds) plus an extra million in variables.
The 21-year-old was widely expected to join Italian club AS Roma, who on Monday announced they had reached an agreement with Bordeaux to sign the player, only for an 11th hour offer from the Spanish champions to change Malcolm's mind.
“The Brazilian will undergo a medical on Wednesday morning and then directly join the FC Barcelona US Tour,” Barcelona said in a statement on Tuesday.
