With the transfer window set to close, Liverpool bagged the second-highest fee ever paid for a footballer. Philippe Coutinho signed a five-year contract worth more than 176 million euros with La Liga leaders Barcelona.

Another club record sum was paid for the self-titled ‘crazy kid’ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Borussia Dortmund striker is off to Arsenal after signing for around 64 million euros.
