The biggest snowfall in four years has blanketed Tokyo and surrounding areas, halting train services and forcing the cancellation of hundreds of flights.
More than 20 centimeters accumulated in central Tokyo. Authorities say slippery road conditions have caused more than 600 traffic accidents. Over 60 people have been injured in falls.
Sections of expressways around the capital have been closed. About 50 vehicles were stuck on the slippery rampways leading up to Tokyo's iconic Rainbow Bridge.
