Carlos Sainz remains at the front of the pack in the 13th stage of the Dakar Rally. Nasser Al-Attiyah was pushing hard after Thursday's stage victory, but a short stoppage early on lost some time and put him in fourth position at the first waypoint, behind his teammate Bernhard ten Brinke and just two seconds off Lucio Alvarez.

Peterhansel had a frustrating stage. Already down 45 minutes on team-mate Sainz, chatter on his team radio said he lost 41 minutes while trying to repair damage. It could see him tumble down the rankings.

On the bikes, Toby Price claimed victory on the 13th Stage as teammate Matthias Walkner edged closer to overall victory.

Price - who also won Stage 11 - was fastest to all but the first waypoint with just one stage to go, battling Kevin Benavides and Antoine Meo the whole way before finishing two minutes clear of each to tighten his hold on third overall.
