French President Emannuel Macron was in London this week, where he and Theresa May reaffirmed their commitment to working together on defense, even after Britain leaves the EU. It’s a good start but the two leaders are already at odds over how much the Brits should pay to shore up French border security in Calais.

Back in Brussels, Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker says he’s looking forward to Bulgaria’s rotating EU presidency – but will Bulgaria be distracted by its own very real problems at home? One cloud on the horizon: protesting hospital workers in southern Bulgaria who say they haven’t been paid in months.

In short, the forecast is uncertain.
