There were terrifying scenes in paradise as passengers had to be saved after their speedboat exploded in Thailand.

Smoke billowed from the vessel which was carrying tourists between Phuket and Phi Phi Island.

Twenty-six people including children, all believed to all be Chinese, were saved from the boat, which caught fire close to the islands.

Footage posted on social media showed thick black smoke billowing into the air.

The explosion is believed to have been caused by fuel leaking from the vessel.

Passengers had to jump into the water to escape the blaze.
