ROME (Reuters) – Bank of Italy Governor Ignazio Visco has been appointed to serve a second, six-year term of office, a statement from President Sergio Mattarella’s office said on Friday. Visco, whose mandate was due to expire at the end of this month, sits on the governing council of the European Central Bank and is considered a close ally of ECB President Mario Draghi — his predecessor at the Bank of Italy.
