A feminist model from Sweden says she’s had rape threats after showing off her hairy legs in a promotional shoot.
Arvida Byström, 26, was part of a campaign to advertise a new brand of trainers, see video below.
The provocative model and artist revealed on Instagram she had received abuse after the advert had been published on YouTube.
She wrote: “My photo from the @adidasoriginals superstar campaign got a lot of nasty comments last week.
“Me being such an abled, white body with its only non-conforming feature being a little leg hair.
“Literally I’ve been getting rape threats in my direct messages inbox.
“I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like to not posses all these privileges and try to exist in the world.
“Sending love and try to remember that not everybody has the same experiences being a person.”
Byström, also a photographer, has been praised by the trainer manufacturer for questioning femininity and gender standards.
My photo from the
adidasoriginals superstar campaign got a lot of nasty comments last week. Me being such an abled, white, cis body with its only nonconforming feature being a lil leg hair. Literally I've been getting rape threats in my DM inbox. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to not posses all these privileges and try to exist in the world. Sending love and try to remember that not everybody has the same experiences being a person 🌎 Also thanks for all the love 🌹got a lot of that too ❤️❤️❤️❤️

A post shared by arvida byström (arvidabystrom) on
