A driver on a French motorway was hit with a €135 fine for travelling while overloaded with luggage.
The Renault was carrying almost half its own weight with bags strapped and taped onto the roof and boot when it was stopped near the southern town of Valence.
In a post on Twitter, the gendarmerie said the packages weighed 400kgs.
The car was travelling on the A7 motorway which connects the south coast of France with the country’s biggest cities including Paris and Lyon. This week is one of the busiest of the year as holidaymakers return from their summer vacations.
