China has urged the United States to immediately correct its mistake of imposing sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals.

The measures also target Russian firms and individuals for allegedly supporting North Korea’s weapons programme.

China is interested in a diplomatic dialogue with both Russia and other countries to resolve the situation.

“What the United States has done is not helpful to the resolution of the issue and is not beneficial to mutual trust and cooperation between China and the United States on this matter,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying.

Russia’s deputy foreign minister said the UN Security Council has been unable to broker a political compromise between the U.S. and North Korea.

Sergei Ryabkov said that sanctions should not be imposed on North Korea indefinitely, and they would yield no result without dialogue.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel also said she sees mo military solution for Pyongyang’s missile threats.
