Van Gogh's Sunflowers in Virtual Reality

For the first time, Van Gogh’s Sunflowers are reunited…

But you are not in the real world, but in a virtual reality. Long separated and scattered around the world, five works from the Dutch painter’s iconic ‘Sunflowers’ series are being brought together through VR.

Painted in Arles, in the South of France during the summer of 1888… One of those hangs proudly on the walls of London’s National Gallery, while the surviving four other works are spread across continents, on various museum walls. Users can get up close to each picture, looking at the texture and swirls of blue and yellow that make the series a classic.

VR presents an opportunity for art galleries to become more accessible to a global audience.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum, the Seiji Togo Memorial Museum of Art in Tokyo and the Neue Pinakothek in Munich Germany, are syncing up with London to bring the five artworks together.
