French President Emmanuel Macron has led a tribute ceremony in Nice for the victims of a truck attack last year on Bastille Day.

86 people died when a Tunisian man drove the vehicle at a crowd on the waterfront.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for that attack and others in France.

Mr Macron met with Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi and then made his way on foot to Place Massena for a military parade and the one-year anniversary commemoration, which was also attended by former President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Fresh from Bastille Day celebrations with Donald Trump in Paris, Mr Macron gave a speech in which he said he understood criticism of state aid for victims of the carnage.
